How to make the most of a snow day

We have all been there, snowed in and either frantic about it or loving the fact that there is nowhere to go for at least a 24 hour period and nothing can change that. For me, it’s the latter. Since the weathermen usually can predict the big storms, and also that we always shop and stock up regardless, nothing was nicer than waking and walking the dog in the silence of the snow falling and knowing it will take all day for them to dig us out. We live in the country basically and although they get to us, our driveway is very, very large and our plowers get to us usually later in the day since they do businesses first. We spend the day watching television, shoveling walkways and doggie bathroom spots, and cooking. I just love to cook and freeze meals on snowy days. It comforts me and puts me in a place of serenity knowing I cannot go anywhere and puts me into check with the world. My neighbor and I keep in touch throughout the day if we each need each other and swap ingredients if we need to. When our children were young, they would spend the entire day bouncing from house to house, back and forth eating, playing in the snow, and waiting for their clothes to dry in each of our dryers.
