After 6 years, we changed the event enough to make it noticeable. All I can say is, it worked. The venue was the same, the food was the same, and awesome, open bar, and, of course, I was still the keynote speaker. Books were available for purchase throughout the evening. We eliminated dancing but still had music. We added a big raffle of about 35 items, and then continued with a live bidding auction. Were people apprehensive, of course, but in the end, after asking them to continue trusting what I do, we came out on top. A truly successful evening with happy faces throughout, lots of gifts were given away, items were bid on with a little bit of a bidding battle at times, but in the end everyone was joyous, happy, laughing out loud, and cheering for those who kept the bidding going. We gifted out $5000 in cash prizes as an extra event itself, and made lots and lots of people happy. The Alesia Shute foundation is gifting more than expected to CHOP. We are still in the planning stages but have already pledged a portable gaming system that travels from room to room. Because we were able to raise more money than we thought, we are looking for more things to buy for them. Thanks to everyone who helped sell raffles, 50/50’s, and made the dream and the evening a complete success.
