A Fellow Author

I just finished fellow author’s book, Contrast, by Devin Hughes. Although it’s a story completely opposite of mine, it has similarities of strength, hope and inspiration scattered throughout. Devin was born to a mixed couple and never felt he had a place in either the white or black world, if that makes sense. To me it does. Even though I believe we are all equal and deserve to be treated as such, there is a culture difference which we learn from our parents, some good some bad, but with which we can identify throughout life. Devin had neither and struggled in the middle, floating in and out of both worlds, wondering who he was and how he was to fit in. I commend his strength, determination, and success.

I had to overcome catastrophic illness from a young age, but show the same strength, just in a different way. I know who I am, where I came from, and never not once thought about where I fit in. His words kept me riveted and turning pages. I was disappointed when it finished reading. I wanted more.

Hats off to Devin and I look forward to our adventure together as Crusaders in our upcoming comic book.
