My husband and I recently saw The Fault in Our Stars, the story of two young people dying of cancer who happen to fall in love. I felt the need to share this with everyone since this movie, in particular, really hit home for me personally. Yes, I was ill as a child. Yes, I faced the turmoil of possibly dying, and, yes, my family was deeply affected by this path we were directed to follow. This story was so riveting and touching, I felt as if I was truly watching two very real people, their families, and all of their suffering. There was a lot of smiles, happiness, and laughter mixed in with the saga of day-to-day rituals of living with a deadly disease. Without ruining the movie for those who are interested in seeing it, I hope that this movie is recognized during the Academy Awards. The tears I shed during the movie were real and I was touched to the bone from the familiar and intoxicating outcome. It makes me want even more for my story to be looked at for a television movie.
