Missing My Home

I have spoken about being away recently and as much as I love travel and meeting new people, having new experiences, there is no place like home. I am not certain what it is about my own bed, my own kitchen, my own washer and dryer, but it humbles me to talk about it. When we lost everything on our entire first floor of our home to Sandy, the devastation seemed endless. Then we were faced with remodeling our damaged home and giving up all of our “stuff.” These are the things that we spent 30 years collecting to help make what we called home, home. It was difficult to imagine that everything was gone and that we needed to begin again. It took 4 months and lots of money and work, but the final results are perfect. Yes, there were lots of things that cannot be replaced, but we managed to make our home, homey again. Coming home from a long trip and looking around left me with the same feeling of happiness.
