Happy & Hopeful or Sad & Fearful

I have another friend who is now having brain surgery for a tumor. My husband and I have know Carmen for over 30 years and when you speak of someone who you would never in a million years become ill, Carmen’s face would pop up in our minds. But as we all know, we are all vulnerable to this thing called illness. Do we know if this tumor is cancerous? Not yet, so our prayers are flowing loud and clear but it is not all about prayer it’s about, shall I use the phrase, “luck of the draw” loosely? I have known 3 people, all close and dear people to me in the past 3 years that have had brain surgery. Is that normal? I wonder sometimes if it is something in our foods, our overuse of electronics or something similar but then wouldn’t we all be sick at this point? I feel like screaming out, “why?”, but I know better and know my strength and gift of offering hope is much stronger than giving in to the disease, because we cannot let illness win the fight. I just wanted to share with everyone that even when we think we are exempt from having bad things happen to us we are not, we are all vulnerable to this and should savor life, health, and love family and friends just the same. We need to focus on being happy and hopeful, not sad and fearful.
