Memorize Your Body

I am going to ask you to take a look at yourself. This time it is not a look at your internal self something I usually do, but at your skin, your body, all your marks, new and old. Take a long look, scrutinize everything you see and make note of changes, or anything new. Look below at this list and decide if you need to get a skin check. I have been getting them for years, on a yearly basis or when something just seems different. Better to be safe than sorry. Sun goddess like myself or not, it pays to pay attention to your body.

“Symptoms of melanoma and other skin cancers vary from person to person. It is important to note that not all skin cancers and melanomas fall into these categories, so just use this list as a guideline:

•A change on the skin. This could be a new spot, or a change in color, shape or size of a current spot.

•A sore that doesn’t heal.

•A spot or sore that becomes painful, itchy, tender or bleeds.

•A spot or lump that looks shiny, waxy, smooth or pale.

•A firm red lump that bleeds or appears ulcerated or crusty.

•A flat, red spot that is rough, dry or scaly.”
