Saying Goodbye

We attended the funeral of my son’s girlfriend’s father the other day and I felt very certain I wanted to share this post with all of you. Johnathan’s girlfriend had the strength and charm to tell me that when we met, her parents played a major role in how she developed and what she will become. Her father Joe, who is the one who passed, was an all around well-rounded guy who thought of everything, planned everything, and never cut corners in anything that he tackled. Although we did not know Joe...

August 9th: Touch A Truck Event

A few years ago, I took part in the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey, ‘Touch a Truck.’ We came to the Promenade in New Jersey prepared to sell my books and let kids climb in an ATV I was raffling off. There were vehicles of all shapes and sizes, food, games, and everything was FREE (with the exception of food). There were crafts and lots of children with smiling faces. A Nice Sunday

I have a new friend I met on a social media site, Joe, who has embraced my book and taken my story to the next level. He loves to write on the side and since he is a doctor, this hobby relaxes him and allows him to express himself. Joe read my story and together we worked on a “screenplay” that is coming out just wonderful. He has put his heart and soul into this work and someday, maybe someday, we will sell it and you will see our work in a television movie. That is at this time, a far away dream, but...

An Old Friend

Spoke to an old friend who is in a rehab after a triple bypass. Franny worked for me at our restaurant for many years and she became a, shall I say, sweet thorn in my side. She would do anything asked of her, good server, good person, but drove me crazy if that makes any sense. We kept in touch since we sold our business (since I like to let people that worked for me know that I still care about them). My quick phone call, something any of us has a few minutes to do, made her day. She was so happy to hear from me...

Childhood Memories

I went to a doctor the other day for something unrelated to my medical problems as a child. The doctor began questioning me about the normal things and was intrigued when he saw all the scars from my surgeries. He asked lots of questions which I am used to, but for some reason they began to drum up memories of my illness, my childhood, and all that I have been though. I have come to termsĀ  long ago with everything that has happened to me and how I spent my childhood, but sometimes something triggers a feeling and...
