Crazy Weather

We have enough on our plates every day with family issues and responsibilities, especially when you have an ill child or family member. With all we have to do, when the weather controls us it can put a damper on our week. Today, we are only experiencing heavy rain, which here on the East Coast seems kind of minor after hurricane Sandy. The problem is that this rain is the same storm that has effected the Midwest and more, with tornadoes, rain that has devastated then entire US, and left death and distraction in...

Thank Yous

Nothing makes you feel better that the two simple words, thank you. Recently, we had a major fundraiser and were able to gift out 210 of my books to various charitable organizations. Then we were faced with remodeling our damaged home and giving up all of our “stuff.” These are the things that we spent 30 years...

Easter and Passover

It does not matter what holiday you celebrate or how you pray, but being with family and close friends is key to completing any holiday. For us, we have such a spread-out mixed bunch of people with crazy work schedules, but we always manage to make things work. Even when someone is ill, making the family thing work is so very nice that it does not matter when or where. For us, we celebrated Easter with our family on Palm Sunday, which also was the night before passover. Breakfast with my sister and her family...

Traveling with an Ill Child

Traveling with an Ill Child

I recently returned from a road trip with my hubby and puppy. It was a very long drive from New Jersey to Florida, but we made an event out of it and even enjoyed our hotels on the road. Since we had a little stay in Florida, it was worth having our car and our dog with us. During the trip, I spent quite a bit of time thinking of some shorter car trips I took with my family as a child while I was very ill. I remembered having to stop so often that I’m now surprised my parents even wanted to take me with...
