Time Stands Still

Posted by on May 30, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

I have been really doing well in my recovery from my recent bowel obstruction and hospitalization. I feel like I took an actual beating; I was so weak and tired. I have been home almost two weeks and although I still need to lie down and close my eyes or actually nap each day, I continue to do more and feel stronger as time ticks away. I do want to share with you how I felt from the moment I became ill until now. The best way to explain it is “time stood still.” It was as if my experiences were so...

After spending more than a week in the hospital with a bowel obstruction, I am home recovering and feeling stronger every day. I was so very weak and tired that doing just one thing, like showering, left me with the need to lie down. On the 5th or 6th day I began to feel stronger and clearer and I wanted to do more each day. I have been home from the hospital for 5 days.  It seems like a slow process but if memory serves me right, every day is a bit better. I have to remind myself that because it is TRUE!  You need to take a deep breath, and take it slow and listen, REALLY listen to your body.  Each day I am able to conquer a bit more.  Even the small quests, which are daily routine chores for all of us, seem like a major obstacle.  When you can’t do anything for so long and then you try to do something, it is a major...

Spending 8 days in the hospital with an obstruction of the bowel definitely put life into perspective. I was able to only concentrate on ME and worry about Me.  I missed the wedding of one of my closest friends, but what could I have done to change that, absolutely nothing!  My son was preparing to graduate college the following week, what could I do about that, absolutely nothing!  When there is a crisis in the family, the family has no choice but to adjust.  I spend my life helping others cope with these...

Another Experience

Posted by on May 21, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

About 10 days ago, I was reminded how it feels to continue to “walk the mile” in the shoes of someone who is extremely ill. I had another terrible experience with my health and was unable to share with all of you until now.  My husband had to take me to the emergency room with a small bowel obstruction.  It came out of nowhere and blindsided us both.  It had been nearly 20 years since I had been through any surgeries and obstructions.  It was because of the time that had passed, that I decided to...
