Survival and Triumph- Inspiration to Others

I met an amazing young man at the CHOP Volunteer Summit the other day. He was around 22 years old and was one of the speakers at this event and shared with us that he was born with sickle cell. As an infant, he appeared to be normal for the first few weeks of life, but then something terrible happened, changing his life as well as his families forever. Diagnosed with this painfully debilitating disease, he has undergone painful surgeries, and has grown up living life completely different that what his mother...

Getting Stronger By Leaning

The following post was featured on Day by Day Hope Foundation’s blog. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to share my story with others! When I was seven years old, I was diagnosed with cancer, and spent my childhood in treatment and recovering from surgeries.  Now, fortunately, as a healthy adult, I am able to work with families whose children also battling the disease.  I wrote my memoir, “Everything’s Okay,” detailing my illness and recovery, in hopes that others would find...

I felt relieved to...

Better yet, you can take a moment to sit back, thinking about nothing in general, and just look at life in an easy way. It may seem hard to do, or even hard to admit that you might have reached that point, but everyone, even the person who does not have too much going on still...

Spreading the Magic

I love the idea that I will be involved in helping and gifting my books to 150 families with a serious ill child at an upcoming event benefitting Spread the Magic, Chad Juro’s Foundation. The mission of Spread the Magic is to spread hope and inspiration to children battling cancer through the power of magic. Chad  is a leukemia survivor and will do a magic show while I gift out my books. We will both have a chance to meet everyone, chat with the families, play with the kids, and meet so many wonderful...
