What’s Next

As we say good bye to the month of April I ask those of you who would like to be on my volunteer list for things to help me with throughout the year to send me your email and a little note of who you are and what you are able to do. I am in the planning stages for my year over the next couple of months but sometimes things come up that I need a helper or two so it is nice to know I have an ongong list. At times I need a bit of secretial work or event work so let me know what you can do and where you live. For now...

How You can make a difference

When we gift out books to families or when we visit places and chat with people who are going through terrible times, I know when we leave or when they contact me after they read my story that all the work we do with my foundation does “make a difference.” When I begin to work on and complete my Evening of Inspiration each year and realize that we have raised enough money not only to gift hundreds of copies of my books but can gift a substantial donation to CHOP, I lay my head down at night a know...

Statistics of Volunteers

Statistics of Volunteers

Funny that there even would be studies on volunteering as far as I am concerned but there is and it does vary from state to state. Not sure why it would be so varied but I guess population, metropolitan areas, need, and things like this play a roll in it. I think how someone is raised is going to be part of who you become and why you would need to help and/or give back. If you are raised as a person who is involved in your community, such as doing nice things for neighbors or groups, then you will most likely be...

Importance of Volunteering

Sometimes people ask me why I do so much to give back. I have repeatedly heard, “haven’t you been through enough in your life to make up for all that extra giving”. Although at times I am taken aback by some of those comments, I do not get upset or angry but I do share with them my personal feelings. For me, giving back fulfills an emotion towards people and allows me to truly understand that I was not, and still am not, the only person who had problems with my health, especially as a child....

Gifting CHOP

Gifting CHOP

I have truly felt blessed this past month since I moved home from the recent hurricane after 4 months and was still able to have my big event, An Evening Of Inspiration. Through it all I was able to raise enough money to replace lost books and supplies from the storm and to gift CHOP $6,000. Whew!! They are going to use these funds for purchasing a cart to do activities and crafts in rooms for those patients who are bedridden and keep it well stocked. The other half of the funds will purchase CHEMO DUCKS. We love...

An Evening That Inspired

I had been so very busy finalizing the details of my past event I almost forgot to share with you how very wonderful it was. I plan on continuing to inspire everyone who is willing to accept it. This past Evening of Inspiration was my 4th and was just as rewarding for me and all those who attended as my very first. My book continues to grow along with me and all those I surround myself with. Continue to follow all that I do and I promise not to disappoint anyone. I look forward to coming up with something...
