There Is A Ray Of Light

Although I am due to another follow up with the surgeon just to check some recent X-rays, my mind is beginning to refocus to how it always use to think. Dealing with a personal illness or a sick child is so very trying on the brain, and for those of us who usually have positive mindsets, there are set backs to how we feel think and react. I know all of the possibilities of my future, but hearing them from the “horses mouth” was still shocking. I want them to give me a pill to fix me. Well, that is not...

Mommy Bags

For the past few years, I include my books in things called “Mommy Bags” pioneered by a lovely women from CHOP. She does this project on her own and has people donate personal items to her so that she can make up individual gift bags for about 30 moms who are (kind of) living at CHOP while their children undergo treatments. When she brought me on board it was uncertain if I could actually manage gifting 30 books without any extra fundraising help. I run my foundation very closely and since I am small,...

Fundraising Fun

I had been contacted by some very good friends about their son Seth and his Bar Mitzvah. He has been raising money for his Mitzvah project and donating it to my foundation. If you remember, his older brother did the same and it was not only a wonderful experience to be involved with this and with his family, it was also very heartwarming. You will be able to go to his FB page to donate to this cause and for every $20 donation you will recieve a chance to be in our yearly raffle. This year we are giving out $5000...

Keeping Up With Your Health

After you hear those wonderful words, ” You are complete with your treatments”, there are still things you need to think about. We look forward to hearing those words and savor the moment they finally ring into our ears.  But, just like the diagnosis, the journey doesn’t end in that split second. There still is after care to think about down the line – follow up appointments, scans, blood work, and regular checks for a period of time, sometimes years. It would be so nice to walk away...

Book Updates

My book has been chosen to be placed in various gift baskets this Thanksgiving for families who are unfortunately fighting off cancer. This is such an overwhelming gesture and I am honored to be a part of  this act of kindness and want to thank the Daniel P Ryan Foundation for including my books this year. I hope that each family shares my story and has a chance to reflect and enjoy the gift of hope that I am giving to them all. I salute each of you for your bravery and hope that you are planning on having a...

Raising Awareness and Gifting Hope

My new website is up and running, my comic book has launched, and I will be making lots of appearances either for book signings or at festivals. It is exciting and a little overwhelming but all in all I am so very happy to have something new to offer in order to donate more money to CHOP. I am hoping to be receiving more calls for appearances so that I can share my new comic book with more and more organizations. My foundation is growing every year and I look forward to see where it will turn next! Right now...
