Feeling Really Good

As some of you know, I personally have suffered from so many setbacks in my life that it is difficult to overcome the fear at times of another one. Over the past two years, I have been hospitalized for bowel obstructions, and although I did not need surgery like in the past, it still leaves a fearful questioning of when will it happen again? Will it happen again? How do I deal with it happening again if it does? Last summer, on an evening following a family barbecue, there I was in the emergency room, only to...

Time Does Help Heal

Time is passing and I am slowly becoming my old self again. My surgeon has given me a clean bill of health, at least for the moment, but there are no guarantees for me in this world. Although I preach Everything’s Okay, the title of my life story, it is a struggle to share with all of you that it is  not all OKAY for me. I am still in it and still fighting right along side all of you. Although all of my past illness is gone and my life is very normal, the aftermath of many surgeries still haunts me and for...

Staying Strong – A Relection

It was a summer was full of tragic events. As summer draws to a close, I’d like to take some time to reflect on those tragedies and remember their ability to stay strong. This blog is dedicated to the victims of Boston, Texas, the wildfires, and throughout the world who have stepped into the realm of – one moment you are perfectly fine and another moment your world has stopped and restarted in a different direction. My suffering, although serious and similar, is so different to this that my heart...

There Is A Ray Of Light

Although I am due to another follow up with the surgeon just to check some recent X-rays, my mind is beginning to refocus to how it always use to think. Dealing with a personal illness or a sick child is so very trying on the brain, and for those of us who usually have positive mindsets, there are set backs to how we feel think and react. I know all of the possibilities of my future, but hearing them from the “horses mouth” was still shocking. I want them to give me a pill to fix me. Well, that is not...

Advice Needed

Advice Needed

Now I am looking for advice and needing to dig deep for the good in everything. Recently, I went to see my surgeon, a follow up appointment from a recent stent in the hospital (again) with a bowel obstruction. I was brought in for the second time in 14 months, but after a week I was able to go home without surgery. I feel blessed about this but after about 20 years with no real serious problems from when I was younger, the final appointment has left me speechless and seeking some advice. In no uncertain terms my...

Positive Attitude?

Positive Attitude?

September is Leukemia and Lymphoma Awareness Month, but since it is also childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and since I try to focus on whatever the month is and raising awareness for each illness if possible, I figured that we could bring attention to Leukemia and Lymphoma in August. What I do want to share right now is that Leukemia, cancer of any kind, or even dealing with a broken bone, trying to stay positive is very, very difficult. I want all of you to know that my book Everything’s Okay, although it...
